Mission: The Liberal Arts in Prison Program enrolls incarcerated students in a demanding, rich college program equivalent to a year at Grinnell College. We also host a student volunteer program that supports and supplements our accredited program. Through this work, we foster reciprocal learning that enriches lives both inside and outside the fences and affirms the transformative power of liberal arts education. Read our newsletter, donate to our program, or contact us for more information.

Location: Grinnell

Needs: Historically, the Liberal Arts in Prison Program had many students who volunteered as tutors and teachers in the prison. However, our needs are very limited right now, due to restrictions in the prison because of COVID. Currently, we employ a small number of students who are writing mentors (who are trained through the College) and also course tutors. This is on a very limited basis.
