Mission: The mission of Jewels Academy is to provide young women the competitive edge needed to succeed academically, and vocationally in science, technology, engineering, mathematics, leadership, financial stewardship, and the arts within an encouraging and nurturing environment. Our vision is to become an internationally renowned STEM enrichment organization that helps develops young women in STEM for the next stage in their academic career that produces innovative and conscientious leaders.

Needs: Jewels Academy needs help with community education and after-school programming. This includes creating lesson plans, organizing materials, and packing materials. During programming, students will be teaching, assisting students with programming, helping students with pre and post-surveys, and setting and cleaning up projects. Students will also provide instructor support. Students will also communicate with parents about promotional aspects and programming. This includes virtual and in-person programming. Students will also write newsletters, create social media posts, create promotional materials for upcoming special events, and update our marketing plan. Students will also attend outreach events. Jewels Academy is also looking for a virtual assistant who can work during the year but needs someone in-person during the summer if possible.

When is service needed: Programming in the fall and spring consists of two community education programs, 6-8 weeks each, and two virtual programs that run 6-8 weeks long. Summer programming has one community education program, outreach events, and one 4 week program at Jewels Academy. We also have an average of 6-8 single outreach events each year. // year-round
Number of hours: 2-4 hours just for programming, and marketing and writing average 3-5 hours a week.

Operation information: Jewels Academy is an organization that offers STEM and self-enrichment programs for underrepresented young women in 4th – 12th grades. The 10th – 12th graders are assistants to the workshop instructors. We provide young women in STEM with unique and challenging learning experiences. While preserving traditions and respect for its principles and values, Jewels Academy welcomes students of all faiths and socio-economic backgrounds.
