Mission: Nisaa African Family Service’s mission is to end domestic violence and sexual assault in African Immigrants and Refugee communities by promoting social, economic and political self-determination of all women; it seeks to build healthy communities through transformative justice and social change.

Operation information: Nisaa is Statewide Cultural Specific Organization and has an office in Des Moines and Iowa City, 2019 Nisaa has Five full-time Staff, Two part-time and two Youth Interns. Nisaa strongly believes that a program led by Africans will be the most efficient, in tackling gender-based violence in African communities in Iowa. Nisaa has obtained its 501c3 status and is now a stand-alone organization in 2015. Ms. Jama became the Executive Director.
