Habitat for Humanity – Iowa Valley

Website: Iowa Valley Habitat for Humanity – Home

Mission: Iowa Valley Habitat for Humanity International, a 501(c)(3) housing organization that supports people in need of safe and affordable housing through affordable homeownership and affordable    home repairs. Since 1992, IVHFH has partnered with people to provide affordable housing solutions in Cedar, Iowa, Johnson, Louisa, and Washington counties. Our vision is a world where everyone has a decent place to live.

Location: Cedar, Iowa, Johnson, and Washington Counties                 Address: 2401 Scott Blvd. SE in Iowa City (Depends on location miles from Grinnell College)

Needs: Volunteers are the backbone of Habitat for Humanity. We simply could not build and renovate safe, decent, and affordable homes or have a successful ReStore without you. Volunteers also support work by advocating for policy change, providing food to volunteers, or serving on a committee.                          ReStore Volunteer: Our ReStore is a donation-based improvement store whose proceeds benefit Iowa Valley Habitat’s affordable homeownership and repair programs. ReStore keeps valuable and usable household items and construction materials out of the landfill and allows homeowners to maintain their homes affordably. ReStore volunteers help with daily operations, receiving and processing donations, merchandising, customer assistance, and other projects as they arise.            Construction Volunteer: Our construction volunteers will help construction staff through the entire home building process including framing, painting, trim work, cabinet installation, energy efficiency upgrades, and more. No prior experience or knowledge is required! We train you and give you all the tools you will need to accomplish the tasks at hand. There is no shortage of volunteer opportunities at Iowa Valley Habitat for Humanity, so come on out and learn new skills, make new memories, meet new friends, and help give back to the community!
